Black History Month

YNOT celebrated black history month.  The event was facilitated by YNOT speakers Nick, Veronica, Francesca and Paul.  This presentation talked about the history of how black individuals can be remembered every month.

For this presentation we had two keynote speakers.

Joshua Alloy spoke on Booker T. Washington.

Joshua gave YNOT and our community a great lesson on Brooker T. Washington.  He explained the life of Booker T. and how Washington was truly extraordinary and exemplary, therefore, each and every one of us should strive to achieve and accomplish great things.  Though the challenges we face, whether they may be societal challenges, racial challenges, academic challenges, internal challenges, Joshua ;explained how we should find ways to use those challenges to our advantage just as Booker T. Washington did.

Our second guest speaker, Grace Oha, spoke on Bessie Coleman.

This gave our audience an insight of black individuals that have impacted and inspired the world.  We acknowledged black history month and we offered an occasion for all people to highlight the best of black history, culture, resilience, and to build visibility.

The month of black history is dedicated to remembering famous and influential people in society who have come and passed.  We recognize it should not be one month in a year's conversation.  We received a lot of audience engagement and were able to learn about black history culture which extended into a question and answer period.
